FO: Francis Revisited

Pattern: Francis Revisited
For: me
Inspiration: Lolly's version
Yarn: 909 yds Frog Tree Merino Melange in Teal/909
Size: knit the 39.5" bust size to end up with a 33" bust (to fit me at 36")
Needles: US 10 1/2; US 8 for first 4" of cowl; US 13s on cowl bind-off
Timeline: started 11.26.2008; finished the first time 01.25.2009; finished FOR REAL 12.31.2009

I initially knit this very, very quickly (for me). I finished it in 2 months, but it was way too small. I guess knitterly denial can even happen when knitting a sweater top-down. I eventually ripped back to where I split for the body and sleeves, but was at least able to leave the cowl on. I worked on it off and on throughout the last half of the year, but decided to get serious about it at the end of December. I really like how it fits and I'm glad I ripped back as many times as I did, which I wouldn't have done if I didn't love the yarn as much as I did.

As for changes, I didn't make too many. The pattern is well-written, and if I'd paid attention to my gauge and how it was fitting, I would have had a garment that fit the first time around. I did knit full-length sleeves, after harassment from my knitting buddies, and skipped the increases for the sleeves (I didn't want a belled look.). I also used Jeny's surprisingly stretchy bind-off for the bottom and sleeves.

Comments:
