FOs to come and WIPs
My camera is currently out of commission, so I won't be able to post about my three recent FOs (Gretel beret, Farmer's Market Bag, and Forecast) for a while. However, I figured I'd might as well post about the projects I'm currently working on.
::Slipped Stitch Rib Socks
I finished the first of these (They're a gift.) last week and had my dad try them on to see if they would fit my uncle. And you know what? It does! I'm going to cast on for the second one tonight.
As of a few minutes ago, I'm about 1/3 of the way through the back. I'm knitting this with a friend, so we're just doing a bit at a time. Our next meeting is supposed to be at Thanksgiving, so it's pretty much on hold until then.
This is a xmas gift for Nadine's grandmum. I only have two repeats left of the main section and then I get to start the borders.
Aside from that, my plans are to cast on for the Tilted Duster on November 1st for NaSweKniMo. Hopefully, I'll get my camera back soon so that I can post a real update.
FO: droplet hat

i did make some changes. i cast on with 7s because i have a big head and i knit tightly. i also knit it in the round, which was pretty easy. i have no idea why the pattern wasn't written that way. i did 2 purl rounds (before noticing that i was supposed to be knitting it flat), then one knit round (decreased 2 stitches to remove the two edge / seam stitches). i also did two sets of bobbles and 1x1 rib to give me a bit more length.
needless to say, this was a nice, quick knit. the sizing worked out pretty well. i needed to block it to give it even more length. i don't usually look all that great in hats and this really isn't an exception. it's ok, though, and should keep my head warm.

for: auntie bessie
yarn: 3 skeins of nashue handknits ivy in eggplant
needles: us size 8 clover bamboo circs

nothing much to report on the pattern, since i've made it before. the yarn was a nice surprise. i was afraid that the shiny bits would make it rough, but it was a nice, soft yarn to work with. if i ever needed to make something else with a bit of glitz to it, i'd definitely get more of this yarn.
i am so close to being able to finish a few things. i still need to hunt down new buttons for forecast, since my original ones didn't work out. hopefully, i'll be able to find some plain, non-shiny ones that are pretty close to the color of the yarn.
the farmer's market bag needs a second strap and i'm hoping to make some headway tomorrow. after that, i just need to do a quick seam (actually, probably a three-needle bind off) and weave in the ends before tossing it in the washer to felt.
once again, the shorter days are cutting into my knitting picture-taking time. my aunt's shawl is done, so i'd like to get the pictures posted of that tomorrow and write a quick blog post on it.
in the just-started category, i have a slipped stitch rib sock and my...
i've wanted to make this for years and am thrilled to have cast on. i'm only three rows in so far. i need to figure out how much longer i want to make it before i start the decreases.
