almost done and future knits
i'm almost done with the pure & simple baby pullover from weekend knitting. i just want to give it a quick wash and toss on some buttons (possibly yellow). i'm also planning on making a cute striped hat with the leftover yarn and some yellow caron simply soft to match.
and, in future knits: i bought some yarn at loopy yarns, since all of their mohair, wool, and alpaca yarns were 25% off until today.
first up is some mohair blend stuff to make the airy wrap-around lace sweater from fitted knits. i love this sweater and i think i'll get a lot of wear out of it in this color. i'm hoping to cast on for it soon.
it's fair to say i'm liking fitted knits, since i picked up some more yarn for another pattern in it. how cute is this vest?
some white cascade 220 for another ella for my aunt's birthday, per her request. i'll probably cast on for this once i'm done with all of this baby knitting.
i also snagged 2 skeins* of yarn to fix up the thumb on My Favorite Pair of Mittens Ever. i'm going to see if knit fix has good directions for this sort of patching and possibly pick it up before i actually fix it.
*why do i need 2 skeins to fix a thumb? well, i don't, but 1) what am i going to do with 1 skein of black sock yarn and 2) it was 25% off.
FO: miss dashwood

size: 0-3 months
yarn: >1 skein of caron simply soft in soft pink
needles: us size 6 knitpicks options
techniques: bobbles (my first time), magic loop
this is a gift for one of my cousin's cousins. i'm planning on giving it to her at her baby shower next week. yay for getting things done in time.
check out my cute new stitch markers! this was a really quick knit. so quick in fact, that it only took me about 2 days of knitting to do it.
make that four. i made miss dashwood in some lion brand baby soft (not really soft), but i was told that it was too small. so, i went ahead and made a second one in caron simply soft. much better.
second sock syndrome swap
i'm a bad swappee because it took me a while to post this after receiving it, but what i got is fantastic! my swap partner was vera from vera's crafty blog.
i got a really fabulous sock (obviously) knitted in some superwash merino/nylon from the woolen rabbit. it's really soft and i love the color. she also tossed in some needles. woo hoo!
in addition, i got some chocolate (you'll notice it's already missing.) as well as a chocolate notepad (exactly the type i use on my fridge for grocery lists), a chocolate-themed journal, and chocolate-scented stickers.
the sock fits great and i cannot wait to make some time to start working on the second one. i took some more detailed pictures. you can see them below.
overall knitting progress...
:baby's pure and simply pullover
i still have to put in the second sleeve, sew both sleeve seams, and both side seams. it's so tedious. after that, it's just finding a few buttons and i'll be done. woo hoo!
i'm working on it. no pictures because, well, it's pretty boring right now and i'm not fond of the color.
:john's bday scarf
i finished it in time to give to my brother in time for his birthday. yay for me.
it's a simple baby cable, so it looks like ribbing on the wrong side. pretty nice.
i used rowan cashmerino in navy that i got for 40% in a yarn store-closing sale. it's lovely stuff, but it bled like crazy. i'm going to have to post a picture of my poor bamboo needles after knitting this.
i finished nadine's panta. nothing really to report. i think i'm going to end up making her another one that is wider and not as long around.
sss and where's the sun?
i got my sss swap package a few days ago. (the chocolate is already gone. hehe...) the sock and yarn are fabulous and i'm planning on posting a huuuuuuuge thank-you as soon as i can take a decent picture of my package. until then...
THANK YOU!!! i love everything!
