FO: airy wrap-around lace sweater

pattern: airy wrap around sweater from fitted knits
size: 37" bust
for: me
timeline: started 04.05.2007; finished 05.25.2007
yarn: 5 balls (just barely, definitely get 6 if you're making the same size) lang yarns venezia in natural
needles: US size 13 boye interchangeables and knit picks options

this is the first pattern i've made form fitted knits, but i already have quite a few others on my to-knit list. it's a nice, simple pattern, but i like the use of a thinner yarn with big needles. i like the way it looks with jeans and a tank, but it could definitely be dressed up. i had to go up quite a bit from the suggested 10s and i think i may have lost some of the structure that they would have provided. oh, well...

the only alteration i made was to shorten the ties. i could have used a couple of extra inches when all was said and done, but i'm sure they're going to stretch out as i wear this. i was running low on yarn toward the end, so i skipped a couple of extra rows on the sleeves. it's a good thing i did because i ended up with pretty much no yarn left.

so, this pattern gets a thumbs-up from me. i like the style, but i actually wish there would have been a hole in one side to thread one of the ties through. if i make this again, i'd probably do that and use a thicker yarn for a warmer version.

It's nice to see the airy wrap-around sweater knit up! It looks great on you, and I really love the colour you chose. :) I was a bit worried about how the ties would look, because they look huge in the book, but it actually looks quite nice!

that sweater looks great... the mods were a great choice I think.

Great job! I think it looks lovely on you.

I really like your airy wrap. I'm making one too right now and I modified mine too. Your pictures are motivating me to finish up!

I love this! So pretty and soft and cozy-looking!

It looks great, and I think your choice in colour worked out really well. Well done!

Also: you have gorgeous hair!

Your Airy Wrap-Around has turned out very well. I'm working on mine now. The yarn I'm using is a bit thicker, I like it, but I'm not sure the long ties will work. I may shorten them and tie in the front. I also like the back cables and I don't want to cover them up.

have been on the fence about that book- but now I must have it- sweater is fab!

That is so pretty, it looks great on you.

Hello,

Your sweater looks amazing! I am trying to make it myself and I'm having a great deal of frustration trying to understand the pattern. In the first section "yoke" are we really working on the back, since the two sleeves come off of this section? I've never made a sweater in one piece before and this pattern is very unusual for me. I would love any advice to get my out of my confusion. Thanks so much!

Heather

Your sweater looks amazing! I am trying to make the same thing but I'm finding the pattern incredibly confusing. The first section "yoke" appears to be the back and that the stitches on either end will be the ones later reserved for the sleeves. Is that correct? I am so confused, but I really want to make this! Thanks for any advice you can send my way!
