just a little update
i finished my first pair of socks! they are perfect for sitting around the house. i really need to take a picture of them.
i also started and finished my first mitten. it's a teensy bit shorter than i'd like, and i wish i would've used smaller needles. i'm not sure if i'm going to start it over, or just use the yarn to make another pair of socks. i'll probably decide tomorrow.
i just frogged and reknit the collar. now, i only have one small hole-looking thing. i hate picking up stitches. i still need to make the sleeves. i'm hoping to get a bunch done over the weekend.
new fun knitting stuff
i finished my first sock today! i'm so happy with it. it fits well and will definitely be nice to wear when lounging around. i started the second one today, too, and i'm already about 1/3 of the way done. the pattern is so fast. i love it!
i also tried out my swift and ball winder for the first time today. it is just amazing! i absolutely, positively adore it them! i used it to wind up a hank of yarn i bought from a farmer's market a few months ago, as well as the yarn i'm using to make myself a pair of mittens.
i just started my first sock (hopefully, the first of a pair) today. i'm using a pattern from weekend knitting and knitpicks' wool of the andes yarn in tulip. the pattern uses pretty big needles (6s and 7s), so i thought it would be a good way to get the basics of sock knitting down without dealing with tiny needles. i've probably got about 3" done already, which is definitely cool.
aside from the aforementioned socks, the only other item i have on the needles is my skully sweater, which is coming along nicely. i just need to seam up one shoulder and a bti on the collar and i'll be done with the body of it. i still need to do the sleeves, but that's all. i'm sort of thinking of just putting NERD down one (or both) of the sleeves in lieu of the skulls. we shall see...
also, i still need to post pictures of my xmas FOs. i'm tentatively planning on doing that on monday.
